NUBRA: Deputy Commissioner Nubra Mukul Beniwal, IAS, has directed departments to accelerate development works, improve resource utilisation and strengthen accountability while reviewing the progress of Jal Jeevan Mission and Rural Development Department schemes across the district.

Beniwal reviewed the progress of JJM works with the Public Health Engineering Department, including Functional Household Tap Connections, Har Ghar Jal-certified villages and water connections provided to Anganwadi Centres, schools, health institutions and community toilets.

The review also covered geotagging of water sources, construction of irrigation khuls, Village Water and Sanitation Committee accounts, operation and maintenance manpower, Jal Ankalam and Jal Arpan initiatives, besides the status of functional and non-functional tap connections.

The Executive Engineer, Rural Development Department, separately presented the block-wise physical and financial status of works under District CAPEX, State Sector Schemes, SDP, BDC works, Annual Action Plan and other departmental initiatives.

Beniwal reviewed infrastructure, grants-in-aid, expenditure, bottlenecks and proposed Panchayat-wise outlays. Progress under Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, Community Sanitary Complexes, PMAY, PM Vishwakarma, SBM-G and MGNREGA/VB-G RAM G was also examined, along with employment demand, beneficiary payments, Aadhaar seeding and e-KYC.

Directing the departments to expedite works through proper planning and strategy, Beniwal called for convergence with Centrally Sponsored Schemes and cautioned against duplication of efforts and resources.

He asked officials to guide Gram Sabhas in identifying and prioritising need-based projects to ensure better utilisation of available resources and improve public service delivery.

While reviewing JJM implementation, the Deputy Commissioner also directed the PHE Department to rationalise and judiciously deploy operation and maintenance manpower, with clear accountability for efficient and sustainable upkeep of water supply infrastructure.

The reviews were attended by concerned officials of the PHE and Rural Development departments.
