NUBRA: Deputy Commissioner Nubra Mukul Beniwal reviewed the progress of development works being executed by the Rural Development Department under various schemes and called for closer monitoring and timely completion.
The review meeting covered works under District CAPEX, SDP and VB-G RAM-G, with officials presenting updates on physical progress, expenditure, pending bills and liabilities.
Beniwal stressed the role of Panchayats as the third tier of elected government and underlined the responsibilities of Panchayat Secretaries in ensuring effective implementation of development programmes at the grassroots level.
He directed officials to ensure that Community Facility Centres are made functional at the earliest.
The review also focused on coordination between technical staff and Panchayat-level functionaries. ACD RDD Leh Jigmet Raftan stressed closer coordination between Junior Engineers and Panchayat Secretaries to improve monitoring and execution of works.
The Deputy Commissioner asked officials to remain familiar with their respective responsibilities and ensure accountability in the implementation of schemes.
The meeting was attended by Block Development Officers, Junior Engineers and Panchayat Secretaries from across Nubra district.
The review comes as the administration seeks to tighten monitoring of rural development works, address financial and execution-related delays and ensure that public infrastructure created under government schemes becomes operational for local communities.
Officials were also advised to maintain closer coordination at the field level to facilitate timely completion of ongoing works.
