Poshan Maah observed at Partapur; emphasis on preventing malnutrition, regular functioning of AMCs
NUBRA: Deputy Commissioner, Nubra, Mukul Beniwal, IAS, on Tuesday stressed the need to prevent malnutrition and ensure proper nutrition for children for their healthy growth and development, while calling for stronger community participation in the functioning of Anganwadi Centres.
Addressing a programme organised to mark the 9th Rashtriya Poshan Maah 2026 at the Anganwadi Centre located at Government Higher Secondary School, Partapur, Beniwal highlighted the role of Anganwadi Centres in promoting child health, nutrition and overall well-being.
The programme was organised by the Department of Social and Tribal Welfare in collaboration with ICDS Nubra under the theme “Hamari Anganwadi, Hamari Jimmedari.”
Beniwal stressed the importance of Anganwadi Management Committees (AMCs) and advised their members to convene meetings regularly and actively contribute towards improving services and facilities for children.
He also emphasised the need for effective implementation of various welfare schemes aimed at benefiting children and mothers, and called for greater community involvement in ensuring that eligible beneficiaries receive the intended services.
Sonam Nilza, CDPO Nubra, briefed participants on the objectives of the 9th Rashtriya Poshan Maah and the various schemes being implemented under the programme, including the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY).
She highlighted the importance of these schemes in supporting maternal and child welfare and informed the gathering that seven Anganwadi Management Committees are functioning in the area.
Nilza also said that various activities had already been conducted across the area as part of Poshan Maah to promote awareness about nutrition and related welfare services.
A display of nutritious food items was organised at the programme to showcase the types of nutritious food provided to children at Anganwadi Centres. The Deputy Commissioner inspected the display and reviewed the nutritional provisions being made available to children.
Children from the Anganwadi Centre also presented colourful dance performances during the programme, which were appreciated by the gathering.
The programme was attended by the Principal of GHSS Partapur, ICDS Nubra staff, parents, women from Partapur village and other members of the public. The observance focused on strengthening awareness around child nutrition while highlighting the role of Anganwadi Centres, welfare schemes and community institutions in supporting the health and development of children and mothers.
