IHCNBT, LBA and LGA organise Dhamma Walk for Peace in Leh

LEH: A Dhamma Walk for Universal Peace and Compassion was organised in Leh on Sunday to mark the 91st birthday of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, bringing together monks, nuns, students, dignitaries and members of the public in a collective reaffirmation of the values of peace, compassion and harmonious coexistence.

The event was organised by the Indian Himalayan Council of Nalanda Buddhist Tradition (IHCNBT), Ladakh Chapter, in collaboration with the Ladakh Buddhist Association (LBA) and the Ladakh Gompa Association (LGA). The procession commenced from the Dhamma Centre at Choglamsar and concluded at Jivetsal, Choglamsar.

Participants carried messages advocating universal peace, compassion and non-violence while paying tribute to the teachings and vision of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama. The walk witnessed broad participation from the monastic community, educational institutions and local residents.

According to the organisers, the initiative was intended to promote the principles of the Nalanda Buddhist tradition and encourage society to embrace compassion, peaceful coexistence and ethical living. They said the programme sought to reinforce values that foster social harmony and collective responsibility.

The organisers added that the Dhamma Walk also served as an opportunity to reflect on the enduring relevance of His Holiness’s teachings in promoting dialogue, understanding and non-violence in contemporary society.

The programme concluded with participants renewing their commitment to advancing the ideals of universal peace and compassion while honouring the lifelong message of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.
