NUBRA: Government Degree College Nubra organised the fifth edition of its Thursday Talk Series, the Silk Route Colloquium, featuring an interactive lecture by noted political scientist and academic Prof Ronki Ram.
The programme, held under the chairmanship of Principal Rigzin Sandup, brought students and faculty members together for a session focused on education, subject knowledge, discipline, hard work and career opportunities in research.
Prof Ronki Ram is Emeritus Professor at the Institute for Development and Communication (IDC), Chandigarh, and former Professor in the Department of Political Science and Dean of the Faculty of Arts at Panjab University, Chandigarh.
Welcoming Prof Ram to the college, Principal Rigzin Sandup thanked him for visiting the institution and sparing time to interact with students and faculty.
In his address, Prof Ram urged students to make effective use of their time by developing a strong command of their chosen subjects. He stressed that sound subject knowledge provides a strong foundation for achieving academic and professional goals.
He also underlined the importance of consistency, discipline and sustained hard work in pursuing one’s ambitions, encouraging students to remain focused throughout their academic journey.
Prof Ram further discussed career opportunities in research and academia, offering students an insight into the avenues available to those interested in pursuing research-oriented careers.
The lecture was followed by an interactive question-and-answer session, during which students and faculty members engaged Prof Ram on various aspects of his address and sought his views on education, academic pursuits and research.
The programme concluded with Principal Rigzin Sandup expressing gratitude to Prof Ram for the interaction and presenting him with a memento on behalf of the college.
