Kargil, Sham, Changthang register victories
NYOMA: An Inter-District Cricket Tournament being organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, UT Ladakh, at Nyoma has entered its second day, with three matches played on Saturday as part of the National Sports Day 2026 celebrations and Youth Engagement Month.
Teams representing different districts of Ladakh took part in the matches, with Kargil, Sham and Changthang registering wins.
In the first match, Kargil defeated Nubra by 10 wickets, while Sham beat Leh by 43 runs in the second match.
In the third fixture of the day, Changthang defeated Zanskar by six wickets.
The tournament, being held from September 26 to 29, has brought together cricket teams from different districts of the Union Territory, providing young players an opportunity to compete against teams from across Ladakh.
The Department of Youth Services and Sports said the tournament is aimed at encouraging greater participation in sports, engaging young people through organised sporting activities and promoting team spirit and healthy competition among young athletes.
The tournament is being held as part of the broader programmes associated with National Sports Day 2026 and Youth Engagement Month.
