LEH: The Department of Agriculture, UT Ladakh, conducted a capacity-building programme for district-level technical staff on AgriStack under the Digital Agriculture Mission, with the training focused on creating unique Farmer IDs and strengthening preparations for the Digital Crop Survey across the Union Territory.
The training was organised on Wednesday under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India, to equip officials involved in implementing the Farmers’ Registry and facilitate the creation of unique digital identities for farmers.
The Farmer IDs generated through the registry will be used for conducting the Digital Crop Survey in Ladakh, linking farmer records with crop-related information as part of the Centre’s digital agriculture framework.
Officials from Leh, Kargil, Zanskar, Sham, Nubra, Drass and Changthang participated in the training programme, bringing together field-level personnel involved in agricultural and revenue-related work across the Union Territory.
The programme was conducted by a team of experts from the Central Project Management Unit (CPMU) of the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. The team was headed by Chandan Kumar, Under Secretary, Digital Agriculture Division.
The training brought together officials from the Agriculture and Revenue Departments, including Joint Director Agriculture, UT Ladakh, Thinles Dawa; Deputy Director Agriculture, Tashi Dolma; Naib Tehsildars, Girdawars, Patwaris and other concerned officials.
The capacity-building exercise is intended to improve the field-level understanding of AgriStack processes and strengthen coordination between departments for the implementation of the Farmers’ Registry.
The initiative forms part of the broader Digital Agriculture Mission, under which digital systems are being developed to create a structured database of farmers and support technology-driven agricultural services.
