DRASS: The border region of Drass on Sunday received a dedicated CT Scan facility and a new ambulance at the Sub-District Hospital (SDH), with Member of Parliament Dr. Shrikant Shinde inaugurating the equipment donated by Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and reaffirming continued support for strengthening healthcare infrastructure in the region.
Addressing the gathering after inaugurating the facilities, Dr. Shrikant Shinde said efforts would continue to improve medical infrastructure in Drass to ensure better healthcare access for residents living in the remote border area. He also paid tributes to the personnel of the Indian Army and the people of Drass, acknowledging their courage, resilience and sacrifice.
The CT Scan Machine and the ambulance, donated by Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, are expected to enhance diagnostic capabilities and emergency medical response at the Sub-District Hospital, reducing the dependence on referrals for advanced imaging and improving healthcare delivery in the region.

Thinlas; Superintendent of Police, Drass, Ishtiyaq Kacho; LAHDC Kargil Councillors Abdul Wahid and Abdul Samad; Sarhad, Pune representative Sanjay Nahar; Private Secretary to the Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister, Dr. Nitin Rathod; In-charge Chief Medical Officer, Kargil, Dr. Fatima Nissa; Block Medical Officer, Drass, Dr. Sajjad Hussain, besides district officers, health officials, senior citizens and members of the public.
Earlier, Councillor Abdul Wahid welcomed the dignitaries and expressed gratitude to Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, MP Dr. Shrikant Shinde and all organisations and individuals whose support facilitated the installation of the CT Scan Machine and the donation of the ambulance for the benefit of the people of Drass.
The newly inaugurated facilities are expected to strengthen diagnostic and emergency healthcare services at SDH Drass, catering to the medical needs of the population in one of Ladakh’s strategically important and geographically challenging regions.
