LEH: A three-day training programme for Cook-cum-Helpers engaged under the PM POSHAN scheme concluded at the Food Craft Institute in Leh, with the sessions focusing on food safety, hygiene, nutrition, meal preparation and efficient management of school kitchens.
Organised by the Chief Education Office (CEO), Leh, the programme was aimed at strengthening the practical skills and capacity of personnel responsible for preparing and serving meals to students under PM POSHAN.
The training placed emphasis on safe and hygienic food-handling practices, nutritional requirements, preparation of meals and proper upkeep and management of school kitchens. Participants were provided practical knowledge intended to help ensure that meals served to students remain safe, hygienic, nutritious and wholesome.
The programme also sought to reinforce the responsibilities of Cook-cum-Helpers in maintaining appropriate standards during meal preparation and service, linking kitchen practices with the nutritional needs of schoolchildren.
Officials said the training is expected to support improvements in the quality and safety of meals served under PM POSHAN across schools in Leh district.
The programme concluded after three days of capacity-building sessions at the Food Craft Institute, with the focus remaining on strengthening food safety and kitchen management at the school level.
