RSETI Leh Campus Foundation Stone Laid, Set to Boost Skill Development and Youth Employment in Ladakh

LEH: The foundation stone for a new Rural Self Employment Training Institute (RSETI) building was laid at Saboo Doh on Wednesday, paving the way for enhanced skill development and entrepreneurship training opportunities for rural youth across Ladakh.

Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD), Leh, A.G. Zargar laid the foundation stone in the presence of Director RSETI Prem Bodh, State Director Rakesh Gupta, AGM UTLBC Wangmo, Lead District Manager, SBI, Angchoo, and representatives of the Ladakh Rural Livelihood Mission (LRLM).

The proposed institute will feature modern training infrastructure along with separate hostel facilities for male and female trainees. Free boarding and lodging arrangements will be provided, enabling participants from remote and rural areas to access vocational training and self-employment programmes without financial constraints.

Officials said the project is aimed at strengthening the region’s skill development framework and creating greater opportunities for entrepreneurship, livelihood generation and capacity building among unemployed youth and aspiring entrepreneurs.

Implemented under the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD), Government of India, the project is being sponsored by the State Bank of India, while construction is being executed under the supervision of the Central Public Works Department (CPWD).

Speaking on the occasion, the dignitaries described the project as a long-awaited initiative and expressed confidence that the institute would contribute to economic empowerment by equipping youth with market-oriented skills and enterprise development training.

Representatives of the Ladakh Rural Livelihood Mission, including Wasim Akram from the District Mission Management Unit, Leh, and State Project Manager Dolkar, were also present during the ceremony.

The RSETI complex is expected to be completed over the next two working seasons and is anticipated to play a pivotal role in expanding access to skill development and self-employment opportunities across Ladakh.
