NUBRA: A group of farmers from Nubra on Monday left for a two-day exposure tour to Thiksey Farm, aimed at providing them with practical knowledge of improved farming techniques, new agricultural practices and sustainable approaches suited to local conditions.
The tour, organised by the Department of Agriculture, Nubra, under the Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) 2026–27, was flagged off by Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Nubra, Mohd Safder Bhat, JKAS, from the Agriculture Department office at Diskit.
During the two-day visit, participating farmers will observe various farming practices at Thiksey Farm and interact with agricultural experts to gain first-hand knowledge of improved techniques and innovative approaches.
The exposure programme is intended to enable farmers to assess the suitability of different agricultural practices and identify techniques that could potentially be adopted in Nubra.
The interaction with agricultural experts and direct observation of farming methods is expected to provide participants with practical insights beyond conventional classroom-based training.
The Agriculture Department said the initiative would help strengthen farmers’ knowledge and encourage the adoption of improved and sustainable agricultural practices in Nubra.
The exposure tour forms part of efforts under ATMA to provide farmers with access to practical learning opportunities and facilitate the transfer of improved agricultural practices to the field.
