Sodh Delegation calls on Former CEC Gyalson, seeks Tehsil, Sub-Division status and Heritage conservation

LEH: A delegation from the Sodh area of Kargil on Sunday urged former Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor of the BJP-led Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Leh, Adv. Tashi Gyalson, to pursue a series of administrative and infrastructure proposals, including the creation of a sub-division and tehsil, besides the conservation of heritage sites and development of public amenities.

The delegation, led by Adv. Asgar Ali, comprised Nambardars, office-bearers of the Youth Association, members of the Village Executive Committee and senior BJP representatives from the Sodh area.

During the meeting, the delegation stressed the need to further decentralise the administrative framework to improve governance and public service delivery. It sought sub-divisional status for the area and the creation of a separate tehsil, contending that stronger administrative institutions would facilitate more efficient implementation of government programmes and improve access to essential services.

The representatives also highlighted the need to develop the Apati Chamba Heritage Monument by creating improved facilities for pilgrims and tourists. They said the heritage site possesses cultural and tourism value and requires supporting infrastructure to enhance visitor access while promoting its preservation.

The delegation further called for the restoration of Pasar Khar and the upgrading of the Gasho Sports Complex, stating that improved recreational and public infrastructure would contribute to community welfare and encourage greater youth participation in sporting activities.

Responding to the memorandum, Adv. Gyalson assured the delegation that the issues raised would be placed before the appropriate forums for consideration. He said the concerns would be pursued through the relevant administrative and institutional channels.

The interaction formed part of continued engagements between public representatives and local stakeholders on governance, infrastructure and development priorities across different regions of Ladakh.
