Tiranga Yatra held in Nyoma ahead of I-Day, Students and Security Forces join walkathon

NYOMA: A Tiranga Yatra walkathon brought students, security personnel, government officials and members of the local community together in Nyoma on Thursday, as Sarmang Society, in association with the District Administration, Changthang, organised the event ahead of Independence Day.

The walkathon was flagged off from the Football Ground, Nyoma, and led by Deputy Commissioner, Changthang, Nitish Rajora, IAS, who walked at the forefront carrying the Tricolour. The procession concluded at the Office of the Deputy Commissioner.

The event witnessed participation from the SSP and SP Nyoma, police personnel, ITBP personnel, officials and staff of various government departments, besides students and staff from schools in Nyoma.

The collective march through Nyoma was presented as an expression of national unity and public participation, with the Tricolour carried by participants representing different sections of the community. The organisers said the initiative was intended to bring residents together ahead of Independence Day and encourage citizens, particularly young people, to engage with the National Flag and the values associated with it.

The participation of police and ITBP personnel also highlighted the role of security forces serving in and safeguarding India’s frontier regions. The presence of students and school staff added a youth dimension to the Independence Day observance.

Rajora led the procession from the front, underscoring the administration’s participation in the community-led celebration. The organisers said the Yatra conveyed the message that the Tricolour represents every Indian and called for collective responsibility towards the nation.

The walkathon ended at the DC Office, Nyoma, where participants reaffirmed their commitment to the nation and marked the approaching Independence Day.

Sarmang Society thanked the District Administration, Changthang, police, ITBP, government departments, schools, teachers, students and residents of Nyoma for participating in the programme.
