KARGIL: A four-day Knee and Hip Replacement Surgery Camp organised by Baqirya Health Care and Research Centre (BHC&RC), Kargil, in collaboration with the Health Department, concluded on Sunday with a felicitation ceremony honouring specialist doctors, healthcare professionals, volunteers and support staff who participated in the initiative aimed at expanding access to advanced orthopaedic care in the district.
The camp, held from June 30 to July 3 at Qamar Ali Akhone Memorial Hospital, Kurbathang, brought together specialist orthopaedic surgeons, anaesthetists, physicians, nursing personnel, paramedics and volunteers, who carried out knee and hip replacement surgeries while providing associated medical care to patients from Kargil and adjoining areas.
The concluding ceremony was attended by Dr. Atique Vasudev, Head of the Knee Division at Medanta – The Medicity, Gurugram, along with members of the visiting medical team. Mementoes and certificates of appreciation were presented to doctors, healthcare workers, volunteers and hospital staff in recognition of their contribution to the successful conduct of the camp.
Addressing the gathering, BHC&RC President Dr. Ahmad Ali expressed gratitude to the Health Department, the Medanta medical team, the district administration, volunteers and all stakeholders for their support in organising the programme. He said collaborative healthcare initiatives of this nature help improve access to specialised treatment for patients in the region.
Reaffirming the Centre’s commitment to strengthening healthcare services, Dr. Ahmad Ali said BHC&RC would continue to organise similar medical camps in collaboration with specialist institutions to make advanced treatment more accessible to the people of Kargil and neighbouring areas.
The initiative formed part of ongoing efforts to enhance the availability of specialised orthopaedic services in the district through partnerships between healthcare institutions and visiting medical experts.
