Hails Centre’s support for infra push in Ladakh

LEH: Former Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Leh, Adv. Tashi Gyalson, on Thursday described the consecration of the statue of the 19th Kushok Bakula Rinpoche at the new Leh airport terminal as a tribute to the revered leader’s enduring legacy and service to Ladakh.

Gyalson attended the consecration ceremony, known as Rabney, at the newly constructed passenger terminal, where rituals were performed by venerable Chogjee Lamas led by Geshe Tsewang Dorje. The ceremony was attended by BJP State Vice-President Tonyot Tashi, Kisan Morcha State President Lobzang Larjay and other community representatives.

The state-of-the-art terminal, built at an estimated cost of ₹600 crore, has been named in honour of the late Gyalras Bakula Rinpoche, widely regarded as a modern architect of Ladakh. Designed to reflect Ladakh’s traditional heritage alongside modern infrastructure, the terminal was scheduled to be formally inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday.

Gyalson said the facility would strengthen air connectivity, support economic growth and honour Bakula Rinpoche’s visionary leadership. He also expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the BJP’s central leadership for their support towards Ladakh’s development.

During the ceremony, Chogjee Lama thanked Gyalson for supporting and funding the installation of the statue during his tenure as Chairman and CEC of the 6th LAHDC Leh.
