Rigzin Wangmo Lachic says partnership will build a stronger, more professional and resourceful association while ensuring greater benefits for members across Ladakh
LEH: The All Ladakh Hotel and Guest House Association (ALHGHA) has entered into a one-year partnership with the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) under the Development of Industries Association (DIA) programme, opening up new avenues of capacity building, credit facilitation, digital enablement and business support for its members across Ladakh.
The partnership is aimed at making ALHGHA a more professionally equipped and resourceful industry association while facilitating greater access to institutional support for businesses, particularly in areas linked to finance, sustainability, marketing, compliance, productivity and skill development.
Under the arrangement, ALHGHA will receive indirect financial and institutional support through SIDBI’s DIA programme. The initiative is expected to strengthen the association’s ability to engage with its members and assist eligible enterprises in accessing appropriate financial and developmental opportunities.
A key component of the partnership will be capacity building and training for ALHGHA office-bearers and members. Workshops, seminars, skilling programmes and networking opportunities will be organised to enhance business capabilities and help members respond to emerging requirements in the tourism and hospitality sector.
The partnership will also provide dedicated human-resource support for member engagement and assistance to micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). This is expected to improve the association’s ability to identify the needs of its members and connect businesses with relevant institutional resources and programmes.
Another important area will be credit facilitation. Eligible businesses will be connected with SIDBI, potentially helping members navigate available avenues of institutional finance and obtain greater awareness of credit-related opportunities and requirements.
The partnership will further promote digital enablement, including access to SIDBI’s DIA platform. This is expected to improve information dissemination, member engagement and access to resources through digital means.
Beyond finance and technology, the collaboration envisages wider business support in areas including sustainability, marketing, regulatory compliance and productivity enhancement. Such interventions could help businesses improve operational efficiency, strengthen competitiveness and adopt more sustainable practices.
The initiative also places emphasis on strengthening ALHGHA’s own institutional capacity, including its governance, member services and policy representation. A stronger association, the organisation said, would be better positioned to represent the interests of its members and contribute constructively to policy discussions concerning the business and tourism ecosystem in Ladakh.
ALHGHA President Rigzin Wangmo Lachic described the partnership as an important step towards building a stronger, more professional and more resourceful association.
The association said it would work to ensure that the benefits arising from the SIDBI partnership reach its members across Ladakh, with the focus remaining on practical support, improved business capabilities and greater access to institutional opportunities.
The collaboration comes at a time when Ladakh’s tourism and hospitality sector is expanding and businesses are increasingly required to strengthen their financial management, digital capabilities, compliance mechanisms, workforce skills and sustainability practices. The ALHGHA-SIDBI partnership could therefore provide an institutional platform for addressing some of these requirements while improving the overall support ecosystem for member businesses.
