> DC Nubra reviews facilities at SDH Nubra on National Doctors’ Day

NUBRA: Emphasising the need to address staff shortages, strengthen teleconsultation services and augment 108 ambulance facilities during the peak tourist and agricultural season, Deputy Commissioner Nubra Mukul Beniwal, IAS, on Wednesday directed officials to adopt a proactive approach towards improving healthcare delivery while reviewing the functioning of the Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Nubra on the occasion of National Doctors’ Day.

Chairing a review meeting with the Block Medical Officer, doctors and hospital staff, the Deputy Commissioner said issues requiring intervention from the District Administration should be identified and addressed in a time-bound manner. He also stressed the importance of holding periodic review meetings to monitor progress and ensure sustained improvements in healthcare services across the district.

During the review, hospital authorities highlighted several operational challenges, including vacant posts affecting service delivery, the need to expand teleconsultation facilities to improve specialist access in remote areas, and the requirement for additional 108 ambulance services to meet increased demand during the busy tourist and farming season.

The Deputy Commissioner also sought suggestions from doctors and medical staff on improving the hospital’s functioning and strengthening healthcare services for the residents of Nubra.

The meeting reviewed the overall functioning of the hospital, including the delivery of Outpatient Department (OPD) and Inpatient Department (IPD) services, the availability of essential medicines, progress in Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) registration through village-level and Anganwadi campaigns, and biomedical waste management in accordance with the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026.

The review formed part of the district administration’s efforts to assess healthcare infrastructure and identify measures to improve the quality and accessibility of medical services in Nubra.
