LEH: The Union Territory of Ladakh Administration has moved to centralise the planning, coordination and monitoring of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects across the UT, designating the Planning, Development & Monitoring (PD&M) Department as the nodal department for all CSR-related matters.
The decision, notified by the General Administration Department (GAD) through Order No. 405-LA(GAD) of 2026 dated September 7, is aimed at bringing greater coordination and oversight to CSR interventions being undertaken or proposed in Ladakh.
According to the order, the move has been made to ensure “centralized monitoring, effective coordination and proper implementation” of CSR projects in the Union Territory.
Under the new arrangement, all departments and administrative departments of the UT Administration will be required to route their proposals concerning CSR projects to the Planning, Development & Monitoring Department.
The nodal department will examine these proposals before submitting them to the concerned CSR agency for consideration and approval.
The move effectively creates a single institutional channel through which CSR proposals originating from different government departments will be processed, potentially reducing fragmented handling of CSR initiatives and enabling the Administration to coordinate corporate-funded interventions with broader developmental priorities of the UT.
The decision assumes importance for Ladakh, where CSR funding can play a significant role in supplementing government resources for projects in areas such as education, healthcare, drinking water, rural infrastructure, livelihoods, environment and community development.
The notification follows a reference from the Planning, Development & Monitoring Department through a UO file concerning the designation of a nodal department for CSR projects. The Administration has accordingly placed the PD&M Department at the centre of the CSR coordination mechanism, making it responsible for examining departmental proposals and taking them forward to the relevant CSR agencies.
