KARGIL: Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC Kargil, on Wednesday directed banks and line departments to expedite pending cases under PM Vishwakarma and PMEGP schemes, improve credit flow and identify unclaimed bank deposits for early settlement in the district.

He issued the directions while chairing the District Level Review Committee (DLRC) meeting for the quarter ended June 30, 2026, at the Conference Hall, Baroo, Kargil.

The meeting reviewed the performance of banking institutions and implementation of government-sponsored financial schemes, including the district’s credit scenario, growth in banking parameters, Credit-Deposit (CD) Ratio and progress under the Annual Credit Plan (ACP) 2026-27.

The committee also assessed the implementation of employment-generation schemes, Kisan Credit Card (KCC), financial inclusion and social security programmes, besides financial literacy initiatives undertaken by rural bank branches.

The DC placed particular emphasis on the settlement of unclaimed deposits under the Depositor Education and Awareness Fund (DEAF). He directed officials to coordinate with Lambardars and prepare village-wise lists of unclaimed deposit holders and potential beneficiaries.

He said identifying beneficiaries should be comparatively easier in Kargil because of the close-knit nature of local communities and called for coordinated efforts to settle eligible claims at the earliest.

Bank-wise performance under schemes including PMFME, PMMY, Weavers Mudra Scheme, National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM), KCC and Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) was also reviewed.

The meeting further examined the expansion of digital payments, availability of banking facilities at Unbanked Rural Centres, and the performance of the Rural Self Employment Training Institute (RSETI) and Centre for Financial Literacy (CFL) in the district.

The DC directed banks and concerned departments to improve implementation and ensure timely disposal of pending cases, particularly those involving eligible beneficiaries awaiting financial assistance.

He stressed stronger coordination between banks and line departments, regular follow-up and closer monitoring to improve access to institutional credit and strengthen financial inclusion. Assistant Commissioner Development, Lead District Manager, Chief Horticulture Officer, Chief Agriculture Officer, bank managers and representatives of concerned departments attended the meeting.
