KARGIL: Deputy Commissioner Kargil Rakesh Kumar, IAS, has appealed to people to undergo timely testing and treatment for tuberculosis and cooperate with screening teams, stressing that early detection is important for ensuring prompt medical care and preventing further spread of the disease.
The appeal comes as screening teams continue their work in the district under the National TB Elimination Programme, with the administration urging residents to come forward for screening and cooperate with health personnel during the ongoing exercise.
Rakesh Kumar emphasised the importance of identifying TB cases at an early stage and ensuring that those diagnosed receive timely treatment.
“People are requested to cooperate with the screening teams and come forward for timely screening and treatment,” the DC said.
He said individuals diagnosed with TB would be provided proper medical care, nutritional support through a food basket and ₹3,000 in financial assistance for two months as part of the support measures.
The administration has urged residents to make use of the screening services and not delay testing where screening is advised, as timely identification can facilitate early treatment and continued medical support.
The ongoing screening exercise forms part of efforts under the National TB Elimination Programme to detect tuberculosis cases and ensure access to treatment and support for affected individuals in Kargil district.
