KARGIL: Deputy Commissioner Kargil Rakesh Kumar on Wednesday reviewed key developmental issues of Poyen constituency and directed officials to expedite infrastructure projects, while assuring that genuine public demands would be addressed in a phased and time-bound manner.
The review meeting, attended by Councillor Mohd Amin, village representatives and officers of various departments, focused on issues relating to education, road connectivity, traffic management and civic amenities.
Following the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner undertook an on-site inspection of Bagh-e-Khomeini along with the Councillor, officials and local representatives to assess the issues firsthand and issued directions to the concerned departments for their early resolution.
During the visit to Government Middle School, Bagh-e-Khomeini, Kumar reviewed the institution’s functioning and was informed that the school, with an enrolment of 182 students, is facing a shortage of teaching staff. Responding to the concern, he said the vacancies would be addressed through the ongoing recruitment process and instructed the Chief Education Officer to explore temporary teaching arrangements to ensure that academic activities are not affected.
The Deputy Commissioner also inspected the Balvatika section and reviewed the availability of furniture, computers, smart classroom facilities and other educational infrastructure. He examined the Mid-Day Meal being served to students and appreciated the efforts of the teaching staff and the Village Community Support committee in maintaining the school’s functioning.
Inspecting the newly constructed school building, Kumar directed the executing agency to accelerate the remaining works, including tiling of the school ground, so that the facility could be made operational at the earliest.
He later reviewed the proposed link road connecting Bagh-e-Khomeini with Poyen and inspected the riverbank road, directing the concerned departments to expedite the pending works. He assured residents that issues relating to traffic management and road connectivity would receive priority attention.
The Deputy Commissioner reiterated the District Administration’s commitment to improving public service delivery through regular field inspections and close coordination with elected representatives and local communities.
