KHALTSI: Deputy Commissioner Sham, Kunzes Angmo, undertook an extensive tour of Wanla, Fanjila, Hinju, Ursi and Hanupata villages, combining field inspections with public outreach to assess infrastructure, public services and implementation of environmental regulations across the district.
Accompanied by officials from the health, education, rural development and engineering departments, the Deputy Commissioner interacted with residents, inspected public institutions and reviewed developmental requirements raised by local communities.
At Wanla, she met residents of Wanla-A and Wanla-B and interacted with teachers and students of Government High School Wanla. During the visit, she reiterated the Union Territory Administration’s directives on the prohibition of single-use plastic and littering, urging residents to remain vigilant against the sale and use of banned plastic items. She also apprised the public of penalties prescribed for violations and stressed the need for collective efforts to preserve Ladakh’s fragile environment.
The Deputy Commissioner received a memorandum from the village Nambardar and inspected the under-construction school building, staff quarters, Medical Aid Centre and SRMC Wanla.
At Fanjila, she reviewed the functioning of the Anganwadi Centre and recommended an enrolment drive to improve participation. Awareness regarding the ban on single-use plastic was also carried out among residents.
During interactions at Hinju and Ursi, villagers highlighted concerns relating to road connectivity, healthcare infrastructure and pending developmental works, including the completion of a community hall and establishment of a medical facility.
At Hanupata, the Deputy Commissioner inspected the Middle School, Anganwadi Centre and Medical Sub-Centre before holding a public interaction at the Community Hall, where residents raised issues concerning local infrastructure and public services.
Assuring residents of timely action on genuine grievances, Kunzes Angmo said the administration remains committed to strengthening service delivery and addressing developmental concerns through regular field engagement and coordination with concerned departments.
