NYOMA: Deputy Commissioner, Changthang, Nitish Rajora (IAS) on Monday reviewed the development of tourist infrastructure at the Galwan War Memorial, directing departments to ensure the timely creation of essential facilities to improve visitor safety, security and convenience at the high-altitude destination.
Rajora, accompanied by Senior Superintendent of Police Zaheer Abbas Jafri (JKPS), also paid tributes to the soldiers who laid down their lives in the service of the nation during a visit to the Galwan War Memorial on July 14.
Following the visit, the Deputy Commissioner chaired a coordination meeting with officers of the concerned departments to assess the progress of infrastructure development and discuss measures to strengthen facilities for the increasing number of visitors to the memorial.
The meeting reviewed plans for the operationalisation of a Police Post and a Medical Post, along with the development of other basic public amenities aimed at ensuring a safe and comfortable experience for tourists.
Emphasising the importance of coordinated action, Rajora directed all concerned departments to work in close coordination and expedite the implementation of the proposed infrastructure within the stipulated timelines.
The administration observed that strengthening civic amenities and emergency response infrastructure at the Galwan War Memorial would enhance visitor management while ensuring safety and essential services for tourists visiting the strategically important memorial site.
