LEH: Students from schools across Ladakh showcased scientific models and innovative solutions to practical problems at the UT-Level Science Exhibition — 53rd Bal Vaigyanik Pradarshan 2026, hosted by the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Leh, under the aegis of the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT).
The exhibition featured seven themes — Health and Hygiene; Water Conservation and Management; Green Energy; Emerging Technologies; Waste Management and Alternatives to Plastic; Sustainable Agriculture; and Recreational Mathematical Modelling — providing students a platform to demonstrate scientific understanding, creativity and problem-solving skills.
Administrative Secretary, School Education, UT Ladakh, Smt Bhanu Prabha, IAS, attended the exhibition as Chief Guest. DIET Leh Principal Sonam Dorje Namgyal welcomed the Chief Guest, judges, participating students, teachers and other stakeholders and stressed the importance of scientific temperament, creativity, innovation and experiential learning among students.
The exhibits were assessed by a panel of judges on scientific understanding, originality, creativity, utility and presentation.
Government Higher Secondary School, Tyakshi, secured first position in Health and Hygiene with 94 marks, followed by Government PM Shri Model High School, Lankor, Kargil, with 93 marks and Government Higher Secondary School, Skurbuchan, with 92 marks.
In Water Conservation and Management, Government PM Shri Higher Secondary School, Pashkum, topped the category with 155 marks. Government PM Shri Girls Higher Secondary School, Sankoo, secured second position with 148.5 marks, while Government Higher Secondary School, Deskit, Nubra, stood third with 145 marks.
Government Higher Secondary School, Saspol, secured first position in Green Energy with 91 marks. Government Model Boys’ Higher Secondary School, Leh, followed with 87 marks, while Government Higher Secondary School, Kargil, secured third position with 84 marks.
In Emerging Technologies, Government Higher Secondary School, Bhimbhat, topped the category with 75 marks, followed by Government Higher Secondary School, Sakti, with 72 marks and Government Higher Secondary School, Lankor, Kargil, with 68 marks.
Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Leh, secured first position in Waste Management and Alternatives to Plastic with 173 marks. Government Higher Secondary School, Housing Colony, stood second with 168 marks, followed by Government Higher Secondary School Boys, Kargil, with 166 marks.
In Sustainable Agriculture, Government Ladakh Model School Boys secured first position with 179 marks, followed by Government High School, Domkhar Dho, with 172 marks and Government PM Shri Higher Secondary School, Pashkum, with 165 marks.
Government High School, Shara, topped Recreational Mathematical Modelling with 157 marks. Government Higher Secondary School, Drass, secured second position with 132 marks, while Government High School, Skalzangling, stood third with 122 marks.
Congratulating the position holders, Bhanu Prabha appreciated the efforts and innovative ideas presented by the participating students. She encouraged students to participate actively in science and technology exhibitions and urged teachers to provide sustained guidance and support to help them develop their scientific and innovative capabilities.
The exhibition was also positioned as part of the education system’s efforts to promote scientific aptitude, innovation and experiential learning in accordance with the objectives of the National Education Policy 2020.
Smt Tsering Yangdol, HOD, DIET Leh, proposed the vote of thanks and expressed appreciation to the Chief Guest, judges, participating schools, teachers, students and other stakeholders involved in the conduct of the exhibition.
The programme concluded with participants being encouraged to pursue scientific inquiry, innovation and creative problem-solving.
