LEH: Divisional Commissioner Shurbir Singh, along with Deputy Commissioner Leh Romil Singh Donk and Tehsildar Leh Mohd Shabir, held deliberations with village Nambardaars to review longstanding land, infrastructure and public service issues raised by representatives from villages across the district.

The meeting brought a range of concerns before the administration, including land allotment and settlement, land premiums, residential land, the ongoing railway survey, flood protection, water supply, road connectivity and other development-related matters.

The Nambardaars raised concerns over the railway survey and its possible implications for residential areas, agricultural land and existing land allotments. They sought due consideration of local concerns in areas where proposed infrastructure projects could affect village land.

Land-related issues also figured prominently in the discussions, with village representatives highlighting matters concerning settlement, allotment, residential land and land premiums, besides issues associated with digital land settlement.

The representatives also drew attention to flooding and the condition of nalas and drainage systems, particularly in vulnerable areas. They called for timely administrative intervention and stronger flood-protection measures to address risks faced by affected settlements.

Water supply under the Jal Jeevan Mission was another issue raised during the meeting. The Nambardaars pointed to inadequate water supply, pipeline-related problems and maintenance issues affecting water infrastructure, and sought measures to ensure a regular and reliable supply of drinking water.

The meeting also covered road connectivity, bridges, community and committee halls, agricultural and pasture land, along with other ongoing and proposed developmental works.

Village representatives submitted a memorandum listing their demands and issues requiring administrative attention. They also requested that local concerns be taken into account before developmental projects involving village land are undertaken.

Singh heard the grievances and assured the representatives that the issues raised would be examined in consultation with the departments concerned. He directed the officers concerned to examine matters falling within their respective jurisdictions and take necessary action on priority.

The meeting concluded with an emphasis on improving coordination between the district administration and village representatives to facilitate the resolution of public grievances and development-related issues.
