KARGIL: Director, School Education Department, UT Ladakh, Tsering Paldan, JKAS, directed education authorities in Kargil to ensure accurate student enrolment and dropout data, strengthen field-level monitoring and intensify academic preparedness ahead of the forthcoming examinations during a review meeting held in the district.

Paldan chaired the review meeting at the Conference Hall, Baroo, to assess academic performance, implementation of departmental programmes and administrative progress across Kargil.

The meeting was attended by the Chief Education Officer, Kargil; all Zonal Education Officers (ZEOs); Principals of Government and private Higher Secondary Schools; and Heads of Government and private High Schools.

The review covered the physical progress of works under Samagra Shiksha and PM SHRI, student enrolment, verification of dropout cases, zero-enrolment and single-staff schools, updation of UDISE+ data, academic progress, syllabus completion and preparedness for the forthcoming pre-board and final examinations.

Particular attention was given to the verification of student enrolment and dropout data. The Director directed all ZEOs and Heads of Institutions to thoroughly cross-check records at their respective levels and ensure that the final data accurately reflected the actual status of students.

Paldan also instructed the Chief Education Officer, Kargil, to undertake a comprehensive review of zero-enrolment and single-staff schools, assess their prevailing situation and identify their institutional requirements.

The meeting further reviewed the status of School Quality Assessment and Assurance Framework (SQAAF) and residential remedial programmes for Classes 10 and 12. The Director stressed the need to strengthen academic preparedness and improve student learning outcomes through timely academic interventions.

He directed all ZEOs to make frequent visits to schools in their respective zones and regularly assess academic performance, including teaching-learning processes, syllabus progress and student outcomes.

Emphasising the need for effective field-level monitoring, Paldan called for timely intervention wherever gaps in academic or administrative performance are identified.

Heads of Institutions were directed to maintain updated and factual institution-wise records and ensure effective implementation of departmental programmes and academic interventions. The Director stressed that regular monitoring, accurate data management, institutional accountability and coordinated efforts at different administrative levels were essential to improving the quality of school education and academic outcomes across Kargil district.
