LEH: Former Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor of the BJP-led Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Leh, Adv. Tashi Gyalson on Sunday visited the new terminal building at Kushok Bakula Rinpoche Airport to review the installation of a statue of His Eminence the Late Kushok Bakula Rinpoche in the arrival lounge.

The statue, being installed as part of the terminal’s interior development, was funded by the 6th LAHDC Leh during Adv. Gyalson’s tenure as Chief Executive Councillor.

During the visit, Leh Airport General Manager Umashankar, along with engineers, architects and the artist associated with the project, briefed Adv. Gyalson on the progress of the installation and other ongoing works within the terminal complex.

Officials also apprised him of the current status of the new terminal building, which is nearing completion and is expected to enhance passenger facilities at Ladakh’s primary aviation gateway.

The installation of the statue is intended to honour the legacy of Kushok Bakula Rinpoche, one of Ladakh’s most respected spiritual leaders and statesmen, whose contributions continue to hold a prominent place in the region’s social and cultural memory.

Expressing satisfaction with the pace of work, Adv. Gyalson said the new terminal would emerge as an important infrastructure asset for Ladakh and contribute to improving the travel experience for residents and visitors alike.
