LEH: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Ladakh, on Wednesday congratulated the 12th Gyalwang Drukpa Rinpoche, Jigmet Pema Wangchen, on being conferred the dPal rNgam Duston Award 2026, while also paying tribute to Late Col Sonam Wangchuk, Mahavir Chakra Awardee, who has been posthumously honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his distinguished service to the nation.

In a statement issued under the leadership of BJP Ladakh President Tashi Gyaltson Khachu, the party described the honours as a moment of pride for Ladakh, saying they recognise the outstanding contributions of two personalities whose lives have been dedicated to public service, leadership and the nation.

The party also congratulated the family and admirers of Late Col Sonam Wangchuk, stating that the Lifetime Achievement Award is a tribute to his exemplary military career, courage and enduring legacy.

BJP Ladakh said the recognition accorded to Gyalwang Drukpa Rinpoche acknowledges his contributions to society and his continued role in promoting values of compassion, peace and service.

The statement noted that the honours bestowed on both personalities would inspire people across Ladakh, particularly the younger generation, to embrace the ideals of dedication, commitment and selfless service.

Led by Tashi Gyaltson Khachu, the party’s State leadership, District and Mandal office-bearers, along with members of the Yuva Morcha, Kisan Morcha and Mahila Morcha, joined in extending congratulations to Gyalwang Drukpa Rinpoche and paying homage to the decorated Army officer.

Reaffirming its appreciation for the recognition conferred upon the two distinguished personalities, BJP Ladakh said their achievements reflect the rich legacy of Ladakh and will continue to serve as a source of inspiration for generations to come.
