LEH: The Administration of UT Ladakh is introducing a new composite electricity billing system aimed at making power-bill management simpler for government departments and public institutions across the Union Territory.

The move follows a meeting chaired by Lieutenant Governor Ladakh on August 8, 2026, where directions were issued to streamline the billing mechanism in the UT. The Power Development and New & Renewable Energy Department has now developed a composite billing system to make billing-related services easier for consumers.

Under the new system, organisations with several electricity connections will be able to have their bills managed through a single billing and payment point instead of handling each connection separately. This is expected to make the process more convenient and easier to monitor.

The facility will cover multiple types of public and essential establishments, including telecom towers, schools, medical centres, Public Health Engineering (PHE) stations, Panchayat Ghars, public lighting facilities, Anganwadi centres and Fair Price Shops (FPS).

The department has asked concerned departments and organisations to submit details of all connections proposed for composite billing, along with information about the single point from where payments will be made. The details have to be submitted within one week.

The initiative is likely to reduce the administrative burden involved in handling a large number of separate electricity bills and make it easier for departments to keep track of their power-related payments. It also provides a more organised mechanism for managing electricity connections spread across different locations.

Stanzin Dodjoo, Technical Officer to the Chief Engineer, LPDD, has been designated as the nodal officer at the UT level for issues related to composite billing.
