LEH: Ladakh Police has conducted a two-day training-cum-workshop at Police Headquarters, Leh, to strengthen the cybercrime response and investigation capabilities of personnel dealing with cybercrime complaints across the Union Territory.

The training, held on August 31 and September 1, brought together personnel from District Cyber Cells and Cyber Help Desks attached to police stations, with a focus on improving their operational and technical capacity to respond to cyber-enabled crimes, particularly financial fraud.

The programme was primarily conducted by in-house resource persons from the IT Section at Police Headquarters, Cyber Police Station Ladakh and the Cyber Cell, District Kargil.

A dedicated refresher session on the Shayog Portal was also conducted by the Shayog Team of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The workshop covered a range of areas linked to cybercrime response and investigation, including the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal (NCRP), financial-fraud management, Money Restoration and Grievance Redressal Modules, financial-trail analysis and multi-account investigation.

Participants were also trained in the use of the Samanvaya Portal, cybercrime investigation assistance systems and e-Zero-FIR registration, besides procedures relating to digital evidence and cybercrime investigation workflows.

Practical exercises formed part of the training, giving police personnel hands-on exposure to portal-based processes and investigation procedures.

The training placed particular emphasis on the timely handling of cybercrime complaints, effective use of national cybercrime platforms, monitoring of cases and pendency, and strengthening investigative capabilities at both district and police-station levels.

The programme concluded with an assessment and validity session, marking the completion of the two-day capacity-building exercise.

The training is expected to strengthen Ladakh Police’s district-level cybercrime response mechanism and improve coordination among Cyber Cells, Cyber Help Desks and investigating officers.

It is also aimed at improving police response to cyber-enabled financial fraud and other forms of cybercrime, where timely complaint handling, preservation of digital evidence and tracing of financial transactions can be critical to investigation and recovery.

The initiative forms part of Ladakh Police’s efforts to strengthen its preparedness to deal with crimes in the digital domain and provide prompt assistance to citizens facing cyber-related offences.
