LEH: Ladakh has opened its campaign at the Travel & Tourism Fair (TTF) Kolkata 2026 on a positive note, with the Union Territory’s pavilion drawing strong interest from travel trade professionals, tour operators and visitors on the opening day, signalling renewed momentum in its efforts to expand its presence in eastern India and promote year-round tourism.

The three-day travel exhibition, which began on Friday at Biswa Bangla Mela Prangan in Kolkata, has brought together tourism boards, industry stakeholders and travel companies from across the country. Ladakh’s pavilion at Booth B-300 emerged as one of the active attractions, recording sustained visitor engagement and business interactions throughout the day, according to the Department of Tourism.

The pavilion was inaugurated by Mohd Taqi (JKAS), Deputy Director of Tourism, UT Ladakh, who said the Union Territory is positioning itself as a destination that offers much more than its traditional summer appeal. He highlighted Ladakh’s blend of adventure tourism, cultural heritage, wellness experiences, wildlife, homestays and high-altitude landscapes, while emphasising the administration’s focus on promoting tourism across all seasons.

A delegation of 20 tourism stakeholders from Ladakh is participating in the fair, showcasing curated travel experiences ranging from trekking and adventure sports to cultural circuits, spiritual retreats, wildlife tourism and community-based homestays. The stakeholders are also engaging with travel companies and tour operators to explore new business partnerships and expand market access.

Officials said the opening day witnessed encouraging enquiries from travel professionals and prospective visitors interested in customised itineraries, off-season travel and sustainable tourism experiences. The participation, they said, is aimed at strengthening Ladakh’s footprint in eastern India, a growing source market that includes West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar and the Northeastern states.

The department is also leveraging the platform to promote winter tourism, local festivals, wellness tourism and responsible travel initiatives, reflecting a broader strategy to diversify the region’s tourism portfolio and distribute tourism-related economic opportunities more evenly across local communities.

Tourism officials believe sustained participation in major travel trade platforms such as TTF Kolkata is central to building stronger industry linkages, attracting new visitor segments and reinforcing Ladakh’s position as a destination that can be experienced throughout the year.

The TTF Kolkata 2026 will continue until July 12, with the Department of Tourism inviting travel professionals, tour operators and visitors to explore the Ladakh Pavilion for destination information, tourism products and business collaborations.
