KARGIL: Children at Bal Aashram, Kargil, participated in a five-day experiential learning programme organised by Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat), Kargil, combining recreational games, painting, storytelling and interactive activities with awareness about substance abuse and the importance of a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.
Organised under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, the programme aimed to promote creativity, teamwork, communication skills, positive values and the overall development of children through activity-based learning.
MY Bharat volunteers engaged the children in a range of recreational and educational activities designed to encourage participation, cooperation and self-expression. The programme provided an opportunity for children to learn through creative exercises and group interactions in an inclusive and supportive environment.
Painting sessions encouraged artistic expression and imagination, allowing children to explore their creativity, while storytelling exercises focused on listening skills, creative thinking and moral understanding. Recreational games and group activities promoted teamwork, friendship, discipline and cooperation, while encouraging children to interact and participate collectively.
A Nasha Mukti pledge was also administered during the programme to sensitise children to the harmful effects of substance abuse and encourage them to adopt healthy and responsible lifestyles.
The initiative sought to familiarise children with the importance of staying away from drugs and contribute to the broader objective of Nasha Mukt Bharat. By incorporating drug awareness into the experiential learning programme, MY Bharat aimed to combine personal development with awareness of social concerns.
The five-day initiative reflected MY Bharat Kargil’s efforts to engage volunteers in community service and create opportunities for children to learn beyond conventional classroom settings. Through games, art, storytelling and awareness activities, the programme sought to foster creativity, social interaction and positive values among the children of Bal Aashram.
