LEH: More than 500 students, youth leaders, volunteers, teachers and community members participated in an International Yoga Day programme organised by Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat), Leh-Ladakh, in collaboration with PM Shri Kendriya Vidyalaya Leh, underscoring growing public engagement with wellness and fitness initiatives in the region.
The event, held as part of the nationwide observance of International Yoga Day 2026, featured a mass yoga session during which participants performed a series of yoga postures and breathing exercises aimed at promoting physical fitness, mental well-being and healthy living.
The programme brought together youth and educational institutions in one of the largest youth-led Yoga Day celebrations held in Ladakh this year. Organisers said the initiative was designed to encourage young people to adopt wellness practices while reinforcing values of discipline, self-awareness and community participation.
Principal of PM Shri Kendriya Vidyalaya Leh, Pradeep Chopra, attended the programme as the chief guest. Addressing participants, he highlighted the role of yoga in enhancing concentration, emotional stability and overall well-being among young people. He also appreciated the efforts of MY Bharat in mobilising youth participation and creating awareness about the relevance of yoga in contemporary life.
Representatives of MY Bharat described yoga as a holistic practice that promotes resilience, inner strength and social harmony. They encouraged participants to integrate yoga into their daily routines and serve as advocates of healthy living within their communities.
The programme concluded with participants taking a pledge to continue practising yoga regularly and promote its benefits among family members, friends and society.
Organisers said the enthusiastic turnout reflected increasing awareness among Ladakh’s youth about the importance of preventive health, fitness and balanced living.
