KARGIL: Newly promoted Physical Education Masters (PEMs) of the 2009 batch on Sunday felicitated Joint Director, Youth Services and Sports (YSS), UT Ladakh, Tahir Hussain Zabdavi, JKAS, in recognition of his role in resolving long-pending promotion cases, including those of Physical Education Teachers (PETs), which had remained pending for nearly a decade.
The felicitation was held during a dinner programme organised at the Tourist Facilitation Centre (TFC), Kargil, where the newly promoted PEMs acknowledged the Joint Director’s intervention in expediting promotion-related matters within the department.
The programme was attended by District Youth Services and Sports Officer (DYSSO), Kargil, Abid Ali; Account Officer to the Joint Director, Issa Khan; besides officials and staff from the offices of the Joint Director and DYSSO, Kargil.
Speaking on behalf of the newly promoted PEMs, Mohd Ibrahim Shoqi thanked the Joint Director for facilitating the disposal of long-pending promotion cases, stating that the initiative had addressed a long-standing concern of employees and reflected a transparent and responsive administrative approach.
He also urged the department to create opportunities for in-service Physical Education Masters and Physical Education Teachers to pursue Master of Physical Education (M.P.Ed.) programmes and short-term National Institute of Sports (NIS) coaching courses to strengthen professional skills and improve the quality of sports education across Ladakh.
Shoqi further appealed for the adjustment of newly promoted PEMs against available vacancies in Kargil district, particularly for those posted to remote areas of Leh and Zanskar, citing the need to address genuine administrative and personal hardships.
Responding to the suggestions, Tahir Hussain Zabdavi thanked the participants for the gesture and assured them that all genuine adjustment-related issues would be examined in accordance with the applicable rules and administrative requirements.
The gathering also appreciated the department’s efforts to clear pending promotion cases, expressing hope that the momentum would continue through transparent administration, timely decision-making and measures aimed at strengthening the Youth Services and Sports Department across the Union Territory.
The programme concluded with participants reiterating their commitment to supporting initiatives for institutional development and professional growth within the department.
