LEH: The Nimoo Bazgo Power Station (NBPS) of NHPC Limited at Alchi in Sham, Ladakh, on Thursday commenced its observance of Swachhata Hi Seva 2026, with a series of cleanliness and community-oriented activities planned across the power station and neighbouring areas.
The campaign began with employees taking a collective cleanliness pledge under the guidance of Sanjai Kumar Rai, Head of Power Station, Nimoo Bazgo Power Station, reaffirming their commitment to maintaining cleanliness in the workplace and its surrounding areas.
As part of the opening-day programme, banners and hoardings carrying the “Swachhata Hi Seva 2026” theme were installed across the power station premises to promote awareness among employees and members of the local community.
The power station has lined up several activities during the campaign, including cleanliness drives and shramdaan at the Power House, Dam, Administrative Building, Project Hospital and Residential Colony on September 19.
A Cleanliness Target Unit (CTU) activity has also been scheduled at Alchi Stadium on September 22, extending the campaign beyond the power station premises.
The campaign will further focus on reducing litter and discouraging the use of single-use plastic. Under the “Ek Din, Ek Ghanta” initiative, employees and participants will undertake cleanliness activities near the NBPS Dam on September 26, besides covering nearby villages, schools and other public places.
The programme will also include initiatives aimed at supporting sanitation workers. A Safai Mitra Medical Camp is scheduled for September 28, followed by a Safai Mitra Samman Samaroh on October 1.
According to NHPC, the activities are intended to encourage wider participation among employees and residents of surrounding areas while reinforcing cleanliness, environmental responsibility and community involvement.
The campaign’s activities will therefore extend from the power station’s operational and residential areas to public spaces in and around Alchi, with the organisers seeking greater participation in maintaining cleaner surroundings.
