Ladakh joins nationwide PM-VBRY outreach

LEH: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will on Friday release employment-linked incentives worth nearly Rs 2,400 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rojgar Yojana (PM-VBRY), a move expected to support additional employment for more than 15 lakh people across the country.

The disbursement, to be made through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) at a national function in Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, will be accompanied by a nationwide outreach programme spanning 200 locations, including Ladakh, as the Centre seeks to accelerate employment generation and expand workforce formalisation.

In Ladakh, the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), Regional Office Leh, will organise a parallel programme at the Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre, Choglamsar, where beneficiary employers, employees and officials will participate in the live proceedings of the national event.

The Prime Minister is also scheduled to interact with beneficiaries from different parts of the country during the programme, which will be attended by around 1,200 invitees in New Delhi, including employers, employees and representatives from various sectors.

The Ministry of Labour and Employment said the initiative is aimed at strengthening formal employment and extending social security coverage while incentivising job creation across industries. The incentive payout is expected to provide fresh momentum to employment growth under the PM-VBRY framework.

The nationwide outreach will witness the participation of Governors, Chief Ministers, Union Ministers, Members of Parliament, legislators and senior government officials. An estimated 65,000 to 70,000 participants, including nearly 9,000 employers and around 45,000 employees, are expected to join the events being organised across the country.

In Leh, Labour and Employment Secretary, Ladakh, Rudra Goud P.T. (IAS), will attend the programme as chief guest. Officials said the event will highlight employment-generation initiatives in the Union Territory and showcase the role of PM-VBRY in promoting formal sector employment.

Union Minister for Labour and Employment and Youth Affairs and Sports Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya and Minister of State for Labour and Employment Shobha Karandlaje will be present at the national function alongside senior ministry officials.

The programme is expected to place employment generation and workforce formalisation at the centre of the government’s broader vision of a developed India, while linking beneficiaries from remote regions such as Ladakh to a nationwide employment support framework.
