LEH: Ladakh Police has solved a jewellery heist involving valuables worth more than Rs 80 lakh at Nowshara Gali in Leh within three days, arresting the alleged mastermind from Baramulla in Kashmir and recovering stolen jewellery and cash worth over Rs 74 lakh, said a Police spokesperson.

According to a statement issued by the spokesperson of Ladakh Police, the breakthrough came through analysis of CCTV footage and technical intelligence, which helped investigators trace the movement of the suspected gang from Leh towards Kashmir.

Acting on the leads generated during the investigation, a police team tracked the suspects to Kashmir and arrested Nisar Ahmad Dar, identified by police as the alleged kingpin of the gang, from Baramulla.

Police said the operation resulted in the recovery of more than ₹74 lakh worth of stolen jewellery and cash. The recovery forms a major part of the property allegedly stolen in the Nowshara Gali heist.

The case was investigated using CCTV inputs and technical intelligence to establish the movement and whereabouts of those allegedly involved in the theft. The investigation also led police from Ladakh to Kashmir, where the alleged mastermind was apprehended.

Further investigation into the case is underway to establish the full sequence of events and identify the role of other persons allegedly involved in the heist.
