KHALTSI: The 9th Rashtriya Poshan Maah 2026 was launched at Khaltsi on Wednesday with a focus on dietary diversity, adequate protein, maternal nutrition, child care and early childhood development, as officials called for greater community participation in improving the health and nutritional well-being of women and children.

Deputy Commissioner, Sham, Kunzes Angmo, JKAS, was the Chief Guest at the launch programme held at Anganwadi Centre Khaltsi 3rd at Moravian Mission School.

The programme was organised by ICDS Project Khaltsi under the Ministry of Women and Child Development’s POSHAN Abhiyaan, as part of Mission Saksham Anganwadi and POSHAN 2.0.

This year’s campaign is being observed under the theme “Hamari Anganwadi, Hamari Jimmedari”, which emphasises community ownership and collective responsibility in addressing nutritional challenges.

Addressing the gathering, Angmo stressed the role of balanced nutrition in the healthy growth and development of children and the well-being of women. The Deputy Commissioner also appreciated Anganwadi Workers and Helpers for their role as frontline functionaries in delivering nutrition and child development services at the grassroots level.

She urged them to strengthen awareness among families and communities and ensure effective delivery of services through Anganwadi Centres.

The month-long campaign will focus on five broad areas: dietary diversity and adequate protein; fresh hot cooked meals at Anganwadi Centres; community ownership and accountability; nutrition and early stimulation for childhood development; and the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY).

A Poshan Pledge was administered during the programme, with officials, Anganwadi workers, helpers and participants committing themselves to promoting healthier nutritional practices and improving the well-being of women and children.

Chief Medical Officer, Sham, Dr Shamim Ahmed; Child Development Project Officer, Khaltsi, Tsering Youtol; Zonal Education Planning Officer, Khaltsi, Kunzang Dorje; principals of Moravian Academy School and Lamdon Jamyang School; local representatives and women from surrounding villages attended the programme.
