LEH: Social activist Ghulam Mohammad Ladakhi has reiterated his demand for the inclusion of a representative from the Noorbakhshia community in the Union Territory Ladakh Haj Committee, urging the administration to ensure equitable representation for all Muslim communities. In a letter addressed to Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena, Ladakhi sought the nomination of at least one Noorbakhshia representative in the committee, stating that the community continues to remain unrepresented despite the recent reconstitution of the panel.
In his representation, Ladakhi said the Noorbakhshia community was not given any representation when the UT Ladakh Haj Committee was initially constituted. He added that he had earlier submitted a request seeking the inclusion of a community representative but had not received any response from the concerned authorities.
The social activist further stated that although the Haj Committee has since been reshuffled, the Noorbakhshia community has once again been left without representation. He maintained that the continued omission has generated concern among members of the community and has reinforced a sense of exclusion.
Ladakhi argued that while other Muslim communities have been accommodated in the committee, the Noorbakhshia community has not received similar consideration. He asserted that the inclusion of at least one representative would promote balanced and inclusive participation in matters relating to Haj administration in the Union Territory.
Appealing for the Lieutenant Governor’s intervention, Ladakhi requested the administration to address the issue by ensuring equitable representation for the Noorbakhshia community in the UT Ladakh Haj Committee. He expressed hope that the matter would receive due consideration and that appropriate steps would be taken to uphold the principles of fairness and inclusivity.
The memorandum concludes by seeking a positive response from the administration, describing the demand as a genuine concern of the Noorbakhshia community and calling for its representation in the committee.
