KARGIL: Superintendent of Police Kargil Nitin Yadav on Thursday unveiled the official jersey of Team Kargil ahead of the 5th UT Ladakh Taekwondo Championship in Leh, with the team scheduled to leave for the competition on September 26.
The jersey was unveiled at the SP’s office in Kargil in the presence of international taekwondo players, Coach Mohd Ali, Ladakh Taekwondo Association General Secretary Anayat Ali and Zulfiqar Ali, proprietor of Ladakh Tiles. Zulfiqar Ali represented the two sponsors, Ladakh Tiles and KD Infrastructure, at the event.
Yadav appreciated the efforts of the Kargil Taekwondo Association in promoting the sport and creating opportunities for young athletes to develop their skills. He also acknowledged the contribution of the sponsors towards the team and wished the players success at the championship.
The 5th UT Ladakh Taekwondo Championship is scheduled to be held in Leh, where Team Kargil will represent the district in the competition.
Speaking at the ceremony, Zulfiqar Ali said supporting young sportspersons was an investment in the future of Ladakh. He assured continued support to talented athletes and wished Team Kargil success in the championship.
The jersey launch comes as the Kargil team prepares for its participation in the UT-level competition, providing young athletes an opportunity to compete at the Union Territory level and further their sporting careers.
