NYOMA: A public interaction-cum-awareness programme focusing on drug abuse prevention, cyber-crime awareness and public grievance redressal was organised at Vibrant Village Demjok on Thursday under the Border Village Initiative of the Vibrant Villages Programme, bringing together district officials and local residents.
The programme was conducted under the directions of the Deputy Commissioner, Changthang, with Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Changthang, Z.A. Jafari (JKPS) leading the outreach initiative alongside Heads of Departments (HoDs) from various line departments of the district.
Addressing the gathering, the SSP highlighted the growing challenges posed by drug abuse and cyber crime, urging residents to remain alert against emerging threats and to cooperate with authorities in preventing such offences. He also stressed the importance of public awareness in safeguarding communities from criminal activities.
During the interaction, the SSP invited residents to raise local concerns and grievances. He assured the participants that issues requiring administrative intervention would be taken up with the concerned departments for appropriate action.
The outreach programme forms part of the administration’s efforts to strengthen engagement with border communities through direct interaction, awareness campaigns and improved access to government services under the Vibrant Villages Programme. The event was attended by the Nambardar, students, local residents and officials from various government departments, reflecting a coordinated approach towards public outreach and community engagement in the border region.
