CS Ladakh attends Teachers Day celebration
LEH: Chief Secretary, UT Ladakh, Ashish Kundra on Saturday acknowledged the contribution of teachers working in remote and difficult areas of the Union Territory, including Changthang, Zanskar, Nubra and Drass, and called for sustained efforts to improve learning outcomes in government schools.
Kundra was speaking at a Teachers’ Day programme organised by the School Education Department, UT Ladakh, at Hotel The Zen Ladakh on September 5.
He said teachers played a central role in shaping students’ academic abilities, character, aspirations and future, and emphasised that their responsibility extended beyond classroom instruction.
The Chief Secretary particularly recognised teachers serving in geographically remote areas, noting the difficulties posed by challenging terrain and climatic conditions. He commended their continued efforts to provide education to students despite these constraints.
Kundra urged teachers to work with dedication and sincerity and make greater efforts to improve learning outcomes in government schools. He encouraged them to help students develop skills, pursue excellence and make effective use of available educational opportunities.
He also stressed the need for schools to provide a positive and inclusive learning environment where students can ask questions, think creatively and develop confidence.
Strengthening education in Ladakh, he said, required coordinated efforts by teachers, educational administrators, parents and the wider community.
During the programme, Kundra felicitated Assistant Professors from the Higher Education Department, teachers of the School Education Department and recently retired teachers in recognition of their contribution and service to the education sector.
He said their efforts had helped strengthen the foundations of education in Ladakh and acknowledged their continuing contribution to society.
Secretary, School Education Department, Bhanu Prabha, welcomed the Chief Secretary and other dignitaries and conveyed her greetings to the teaching fraternity.
She highlighted the role of teachers in providing quality and accessible education across Ladakh, while also acknowledging those serving in remote areas. She urged educators to continue working towards the academic and overall development of students.

Vice Chancellor, University of Ladakh, Prof Saket Khushwaha; Vice Chancellor, CIBS, Leh; Joint Director, School Education Department, Zakir Hussain; Chief Education Officer, Leh, Deldan Angmo; besides other officers, Assistant Professors, teaching staff and representatives of the Higher and School Education Departments attended the programme.
