KARGIL: In a coordinated effort to facilitate the smooth observance of Ashura, the District Administration Kargil and District Police Kargil on Friday jointly established Sabeel facilities across the district, serving free drinking water and refreshments to thousands of Azadars participating in the mourning processions.

The initiative formed an integral part of the administrative arrangements for one of the largest annual religious gatherings in the district, with officials focusing on ensuring public convenience, orderly conduct and the welfare of mourners throughout the commemorations.

The Sabeel stalls remained operational along procession routes, providing essential refreshments to participants amid the solemn observance. The arrangements were aimed at enhancing the comfort of Azadars while enabling them to participate in the religious procession without inconvenience.

Officials said the joint initiative reflected close coordination between the civil administration and the police in managing the logistical requirements associated with the Ashura observance. Besides facilitating public services, the coordinated arrangements contributed to the seamless conduct of the processions by ensuring that basic amenities were readily available to participants.

The District Administration reiterated its commitment to extending all necessary support during major religious occasions, stating that coordinated civic measures remain central to ensuring the safety, convenience and well-being of the public during large congregational events.
