LEH: Speaker of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, Dolma Tsering Teykhang arrived in Ladakh on Saturday to participate in the 91st birthday celebrations of Tenzin Gyatso, receiving a warm welcome from parliamentarians, local Tibetan leaders and representatives of regional organisations.

At her arrival, the Speaker was received by Members of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, Choedak Gyatso and Gonpo Dhundup, who are currently on an official visit to Ladakh. Also present to welcome her were Pema Sangpo, Dhundup Tsering, Tashi Dhondup and Lobsang Nyendak.

The reception was attended by heads and representatives of regional Tibetan governmental and non-governmental organisations, reflecting the significance of the Speaker’s visit and the close engagement between the Tibetan community in Ladakh and the Central Tibetan Administration.

According to the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, Speaker Dolma Tsering Teykhang is visiting Ladakh to attend the 91st birthday celebrations of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, which are expected to draw large gatherings of devotees, members of the Tibetan community and well-wishers from across the region.

The annual birthday celebrations of the Dalai Lama hold deep spiritual and cultural significance for Tibetans worldwide. In Ladakh, where a sizeable Tibetan community resides and Buddhist traditions are deeply rooted, the occasion is marked by prayers, cultural programmes and community events. The Speaker’s visit is also expected to provide an opportunity to interact with the Tibetan community in Ladakh and engage with local institutions during her stay in the Union Territory.
