LEH: A two-day training programme on the Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP) commenced at Hotel The Gawaling on Saturday, bringing together officials and field functionaries of the Rural Development Department (RDD) under the Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (RGSA) to strengthen grassroots planning and improve the capacity of Panchayati Raj functionaries.
The programme is aimed at strengthening participants’ understanding of GPDP processes and enabling effective, participatory and inclusive planning at the Panchayat level.
The training is being attended by Panchayat Inspectors, Panchayat Secretaries, Gram Rozgar Sewikas (GRSs) and other concerned functionaries of the Rural Development Department.
DPO and Nodal Officer-RGSA Tufail Iqbal (JKAS) attended the programme and interacted with the participants, while providing guidance during the proceedings.
The training session was conducted by Master Trainer Mushtaq Ahmed Mir, who delivered an interactive session covering grassroots-level planning, community participation, convergence and implementation of development priorities through Panchayati Raj Institutions.
The organisers said active participation by officials and field functionaries reflected the focus on strengthening Panchayati Raj Institutions and promoting need-based and participatory development planning at the grassroots level.
The first day concluded with discussions and interaction among the participants. The second day will focus further on the practical aspects of GPDP and is intended to help participating functionaries translate the training into action at the Panchayat level.
The programme is being conducted with the coordination and support of the RGSA District Leh team, comprising DPM Stanzin Padma, DDA Feroz Ahmed, BPM Leh Jigmet Lamo, BPM Nymoo Stanzin Yangzom, BPM Thiksey Sakina Banoo and BPM Kharu Rigzen Dorje.
