LEH: The University of Ladakh and Miranda House, University of Delhi, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to facilitate joint research, fieldwork, student engagement and academic exchange, during a two-day academic field excursion by 57 geography students from Miranda House in Leh.
The MoU was signed as part of the field excursion held on September 21 and 22, during which the students and four faculty members of the Department of Geography, Miranda House, explored Ladakh’s geographical, environmental and socio-cultural features.
The agreement establishes a framework for future cooperation between the two institutions in areas including joint research, field studies, academic exchange, student engagement and other scholarly activities.
Prof Bijayalaxmi Nanda, Principal, Miranda House, joined the programme virtually and expressed support for strengthening academic engagement between the institutions.
The visiting students also interacted with Vice Chancellor, University of Ladakh, Prof Saket Kushwaha, discussing their academic experiences and exchanging views on field-based learning and research.
As part of the programme, the students held an interaction with officers from the Armed Forces, who responded to their queries and shared insights into Ladakh’s strategic environment. The interaction added a field-based perspective to the students’ understanding of the region.
The students and faculty were also briefed about academic and research opportunities available at the University of Ladakh, including avenues for higher education and field-based research.
The University of Ladakh said the MoU is expected to provide a framework for sustained cooperation between the institutions in teaching, research, field studies and student development.
