KARGIL: The Department of Psychology at the University of Ladakh’s Kargil Campus is conducting awareness programmes in remote villages and educational institutions to educate people about the harmful effects of substance abuse under the national Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.
The initiative is being carried out under the guidance of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Saket Kushwaha and Kargil Campus In-Charge Dr Mahboob Ali. The outreach programme is led by K.S. Raghav, Head of the Department and Assistant Professor, along with students of the department.
According to the university, the team has continued its outreach activities during official breaks and holidays, visiting remote areas of Kargil and nearby educational institutions to raise awareness about the physiological, psychological and social consequences of substance abuse.
The programmes aim to inform local communities about the risks associated with substance use and encourage preventive action through community engagement and education.
The department said the initiative reflects its commitment to community service and efforts to support the broader objective of building a drug-free Ladakh.
