LEH: The Union Territory of Ladakh has earned national recognition for its remarkable progress in digital healthcare, securing two prestigious Certificates of Appreciation from the National Health Authority (NHA), Government of India, for its outstanding performance under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM).
The Certificates of Appreciation were presented by Dr. Sunil Kumar Barnwal, IAS, Chief Executive Officer of the National Health Authority, to Managing Director NMH Ladakh, Tushar Anand in the presence of senior officials from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, along with representatives from various states and Union Territories.
The accolades were conferred during the National Review Meeting (Chintan Shivir) of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, held on July 17 and 18 at Madhya Pradesh Bhawan in New Delhi, where Ladakh’s achievements in building a robust digital health ecosystem were acknowledged among states and Union Territories across the country.
Ladakh was recognised as the Best Performing Union Territory in the ABDM Registry (Health Professional Registry and Health Facility Registry) Saturation category for achieving exceptional progress in the registration of healthcare professionals and health facilities under the national digital health framework.
In another major achievement, the Union Territory was also honoured as the Best Performing Small State/Union Territory in the Highest Health Record Linking Per Lakh Population category, recognising its success in promoting the adoption of digital health records and strengthening digital integration across the healthcare system.
The twin recognitions highlight Ladakh’s rapid strides in implementing the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission despite the geographical and logistical challenges associated with delivering healthcare in one of the country’s most remote and high-altitude regions.
Officials said the awards reflect the coordinated efforts of the Health and Medical Education Department, UT Ladakh, the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission State Team, the National Health Mission Ladakh, healthcare institutions, medical professionals and other stakeholders who have worked collectively to accelerate the rollout of the mission across the Union Territory.
The achievements underscore Ladakh’s commitment to strengthening the Health Professional Registry (HPR) and Health Facility Registry (HFR) while expanding the integration of digital health records to ensure seamless, accessible and efficient healthcare services for citizens.
By enhancing digital connectivity within the healthcare sector, the Union Territory has laid the foundation for improved continuity of care, better patient record management and greater interoperability between healthcare providers.
The national recognition also reinforces Ladakh’s contribution to the Government of India’s Digital India initiative, showcasing the Union Territory as a model for adopting citizen-centric digital healthcare solutions and leveraging technology to improve health service delivery in remote and underserved areas.
