LEH: Participants of the Viksit Vibrant Village Programme (VVVP) Phase-II were flagged off for a seven-day village immersion programme in border villages of Leh district after completing a six-day acclimatization and orientation programme.

The flag-off ceremony was held at the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) Base Camp in Choglamsar, where the participants interacted with the Deputy Inspector General (DIG), ITBP, before proceeding to their assigned villages.

During the interaction, the DIG ITBP highlighted the importance of understanding the socio-economic realities of border communities and encouraged participants to engage meaningfully with local residents. He urged them to gain insights into the challenges and opportunities in frontier villages and contribute towards the broader vision of inclusive development.

The participants have been deployed to five border villages—Merak, Lukung, Man, Chushul and Phobrang—where they will spend the next seven days interacting with local communities. The immersion programme is designed to provide firsthand exposure to rural livelihoods, developmental needs and the unique socio-cultural landscape of border areas.

Officials said the exercise would enable participants to better understand local aspirations, identify community-level challenges and explore opportunities for sustainable development through grassroots engagement.

State Director, My Bharat Leh, Tajamul Ara accompanied the participants during the flag-off programme. She appreciated the support extended by the ITBP in facilitating logistics and other arrangements for the successful conduct of the programme.

The Viksit Vibrant Village Programme seeks to strengthen engagement between youth and border communities by promoting cultural exchange, community participation and awareness of developmental initiatives in remote regions. The initiative is aimed at encouraging greater youth involvement in grassroots development and fostering a deeper understanding of life in India’s frontier villages.
