LEH: The Education Department on Saturday organised a World Population Day-cum-Tethi Bhojan and awareness programme at the Community Hall, Laga Mord, in Durbuk Sub-Division, bringing together students, teachers, parents and local representatives to promote awareness on population-related issues and strengthen community engagement in education.
The programme was organised by the Zonal Education Office, Durbuk, in collaboration with the parents of the Durbuk Cluster and witnessed participation from students and staff of Middle School Laga, Primary School Mord, Primary School Pun Pun and Primary School Nimgo, besides Village Education Committee (VEC) members, the Nambardar of Durbuk Halqa and local residents.
Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Durbuk Mohd. Ismail Gani, who attended the programme as the chief guest, was joined by Zonal Education Officer Sonam Stobdan, Nambardar of Durbuk Halqa T. Gyaltsan, VEC chairpersons and members, heads of institutions, teachers and members of the local community.
The event focused on observing World Population Day, while also serving as a platform to encourage community participation in educational initiatives and strengthen coordination between schools, parents and local stakeholders.
Students, parents and educators participated in the awareness programme, reflecting the collaborative approach adopted by the Education Department to promote public awareness and support school-based community initiatives in the Durbuk cluster.
The programme concluded with participation from education officials, community representatives and villagers, reaffirming the importance of collective efforts in advancing educational awareness and community engagement.
